My primary area of research is computation of blunt body flow fields which finds applications in the design of Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) for planatery probes , space crafts and long range ballistic missiles. The flowfields over these vehicles are characterized by strong bow shock and high-temperatures. Under these conditons, fluid deviates from the perfect gas behaviour, and appropriate physical models for high-temperature phenomena should be used for reliable predictions of flowfields and associated surface properties.
